A grantmaking and movement-building circle. It supports grassroots and community-driven work rooted in restorative justice, transformative justice, Indigenous peacemaking, and land-based healing. Life Comes From It is led by practitioners and elders of color. We give grants to projects and organizations led by people of color and work with local projects to meet their needs with minimal bureaucracy. Alongside financial support, we are bringing convenings, webinars, consulting, education, and the wisdom of elders to the movement. Life Comes From It has its own identity and advising structure and it is also a program of The Ahimsa Collective.

Life Comes From It has organized more than 15 in-person gatherings around the country since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine, with more than 600 total attendees. These gatherings have brought together many previously unconnected movement leaders and have helped to foster numerous partnerships.
Life Comes From It has distributed more than $19M in grants to more than 275 grassroots organizations and projects working in the fields of restorative justice, transformative justice, indigenous peacemaking, and land-based healing.
We have provided over 10,000 hours of organizational development, program evaluation, and leadership development consultation in partnership with EPIC Consulting and the nonprofit/fiscal sponsor Youth Passageways. We have also supported our grantees with fundraising support, resulting in more than $700,000 in additional funds raised.
